McGuireWoods and Richmond partner Jackie Stone will receive the 2024 Diversity Partnership Award from Just the Beginning – A Pipeline Organization (JTB) at the group’s Chicago Light the Spark Celebration Oct. 10, 2024. JTB bestows the annual award on a person or entity that exemplifies a commitment to diversity in the legal profession.
A member of the national board of directors and a longtime champion of JTB, Stone committed countless volunteer hours to JTB’s D.C. Summer Legal Institute (SLI), hosting the networking reception and closing ceremony for students and their families at McGuireWoods’ Washington, D.C., office in July 2023. SLI is a multiday program designed to introduce high school students to the legal profession and expose them to careers in the legal field. Students work with judges, lawyers and law students, and participate in workshops centered around the legal field.
With Stone’s leadership on JTB’s Richmond Steering Committee, the organization hosted the first JTB iLead Law and Leadership Conference at the University of Richmond School of Law last spring. McGuireWoods’ support allowed JTB to provide free programs to over 100 students in Washington, D.C., and Richmond last year.
JTB is a nonprofit organization comprised of judges, lawyers and educators that promotes diversity in the legal profession by cultivating an interest in the law among young persons from various underrepresented socioeconomic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
