McGuireWoods’ Baltimore office received the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law’s Black Law Students Association Diversity Award in recognition of the firm’s commitment to advancing D&I in the legal profession. The award was presented at the 47th Annual BLSA Scholarship and Awards Banquet, held virtually on Feb. 25, 2022.
Baltimore partner Ava Lias-Booker, a Maryland Carey Law alumna and chair of McGuireWoods’ Diversity & Inclusion Committee, accepted the award on behalf of the firm.
“We are especially honored to receive this award during Black History Month and to celebrate the next generation of talented lawyers. It is vital that we provide a path that allows all law students and new lawyers to succeed as leaders positioned to change the profession and the world,” Lias-Booker said.
McGuireWoods has a history of hiring, developing, promoting and retaining lawyers of color, women and LGBTQ+ lawyers and veterans. The firm also has established partnerships with clients to collaborate on diversity and inclusion initiatives affecting their businesses and the legal profession.
