McGuireWoods recently was recognized by The Chicago Committee for outstanding efforts to advance diversity and inclusion within the firm.
Specifically, McGuireWoods was honored for having the “Most Partners of Color in Firm Management,” based on the firm’s percentage of racially or ethnically diverse lawyers who are firm department chairs or hold positions on the firm’s management or executive committee. On behalf of the firm, Chicago office managing partner Christina Egan accepted the award, which was announced during the committee’s Oct. 3 annual meeting.
The Chicago Committee invited its 45 member firms to complete questionnaires describing their diversity efforts and accomplishments. In evaluating the 32 surveys submitted by large law firms, the committee weighed factors such as resources dedicated to diversity efforts, the number of diverse attorneys holding positions of power within a firm, and a firm’s programs and training focused on promoting diversity and inclusion as well as racially and ethnically diverse lawyers.
Founded in 1987, The Chicago Committee is a nonprofit, membership-based organization dedicated to promoting racial and ethnic diversity in the legal profession.
