VUU’s 43rd Annual MLK Jr. Community Leaders Celebration

January 22, 2021

On Jan. 18, 2021, Virginia Union University hosted the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Leaders Celebration, an event McGuireWoods has had the honor of sponsoring for years. Due to the pandemic, the traditional breakfast event took place virtually this year, broadcast on WTVR-CBS 6 in Richmond and its sister station WTKR-CBS 3 in Hampton Roads, and livestreamed on VUU’s Facebook page.

The event included a short video statement by McGuireWoods managing partner J. Tracy Walker IV saluting the importance of Dr. King’s legacy and congratulating the leaders and organizations in Richmond and Hampton Roads regions of Virginia whose efforts embody Dr. King’s spirit of giving.

As part of the celebration, VUU presented individuals and organizations with Martin Luther King Jr. Beloved Community and MLK Legacy Awards in the areas of health, education, economic justice and legislation.
