McGuireWoods launched its partnership with the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund (TLDEF) and its Name Change Project by hosting a CLE training and reception on March 14 in the firm’s Pittsburgh office. More than 30 people attended the training session on how to complete the process of legally changing someone’s name.

In hosting the CLE and partnering with the TLDEF, McGuireWoods joins more than 10 other firms and corporate law departments participating in the pro bono project to help transgender, gender nonconforming and nonbinary individuals.

Pittsburgh counsel Emily Wagner, with assistance from partner Bryan Brantley, took the lead for McGuireWoods on this event and partnership, soon after Wagner became aware of the Name Change Project through her work as a member of the LGBT Rights Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
